BackFlow Prevention
Devices
Sydney Water regulations state that any backflow prevention devices
that have been installed within your property needs to be tested
and maintained annually by an accredited plumber.
Backflow prevention devices are usually installed close to the
water meter to prevent the contamination of quality drinking water.
Contamination occurs when tainted water mixes with quality drinking
water and causes it to become unsafe for consumption. Regular
testing of these devices is very important to avoid water contamination.
Thermostatic Mixing
Valves
Did you know that it takes five second for a child to sustain
a 'full skin thickness burn' when water temperature is 60 degrees?
This distressing fact is very true, which is why annual thermostatic
mixing valves testing is incredibly important.
Thermostatic mixing valves are used in all healthcare facilities,
from childcare through to aged care, to automatically maintain
a constant desired temperature of approximately 40 degrees. These
valves are the frontline defence in avoiding hot water accidents
which can include scalds, serious burns causing disfigurement,
and in some cases fatalities.
The New South Wales Department of Health standard for thermostatic
mixing valves, Hosplan, states that the maximum service intervals
for valves in healthcare applications is twelve months, with internal
components to be replaced every five years. Furthermore it is
the responsibility of the facility proprietor to ensure the temperature
is safe and no abnormalities are evident by making monthly temperature
check on taps monitored by thermostatic mixing valves.
Rainwater Tank Installation
Long lasting droughts in many parts of Australia, and widespread
water restrictions have raised awareness about water conservation.
Households are being encouraged to install a rank water tank,
with many local councils and governments offering a rebate.
Depending on the tank size and whether it's connected to a toilet
and/or washing machine (greywater systems), rebates can range
from $150 to $800.CDB Plumbing has experience in researching the
best rain water tank to suit your needs, plus provide information
on the rebate options.
CDB Plumbing can provide you with information on greywater systems,
which as a minimum, require connections to your bathroom and/or
laundry plumbing.
